This ancestral residence is part of the tradition of the island. The story of the renovated house of the great grandparents of the host Irene Drosos will also reveal an aspect of the life of Santorini from the difficult prewar years to the younger with the tourist development and the changes it brought. The cave house (cave house) was constructed by the Santorini with difficulty as they dug the natural caves of the rocks and turned them into houses. These rockcut houses are found in many villages and in the caldera of Santorini. Then they were the homes of the poor. Over the years, however, their particular construction was appreciated and the modern architecture has highlighted these simplistic creations in separate houses that are preferred by visitors of Santorini due to their uniqueness.

The AMANITA CAVE VILLAS was built by the ancestors of the Dew Peace in the early 1900s. It was a typical underground house where several generations grew up. It is built on an estate on a hill in the village of Vourvoulos, where on its soil the amanites grew. A kind of mushroom nutritious and tasty that in those years when food was scarce was thought to be valuable food. For this reason, the villa was named AMANITA CAVE VILLAS as this naming contains the whole history of the accommodation.
Irene Drosos decided to renovate the old familyowned shanty house and transform it
into a tourist accommodation with the aim of offering its guests a trip in time, but also to ensure quality living conditions. The renovation works were carried out with respect to the traditional Therian architecture and with a view to modern needs.
